Hey, November!
Where are you going?
Woo-eee! Well, it’s been a month and two days since I last wrote on this space I keep promising myself to visit weekly! If you missed it on my socials, THE MYTH MAKER won an award last month! Silver in the Best Detective/Police Procedural category at BookFest 2025! Not the debut category, just up against others in it’s own genre, and it came in SECOND! I was obviously thrilled. This whole year has been a constant mix of excitement, time-stealing chaos, and slow days that zap motivation for me. It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving (US) is already next week and we’re already done with November!
Trying very hard to get my old schedule back on track - not just for this blog - but for all parts of my life. Having my first novel released this summer, I gave myself a lot of free days to balance the travel and social events. Things like meeting through zoom with different book clubs and talking to total strangers about why they might love THE MYTH MAKER is an absolute blast, but as an introvert, it also takes some extra energy! I’ve done the last signing event for 2025, and now I have to get everything else back on track, including finishing book two!
So, besides letting you know I’m going back to dusting on Tuesdays and Laundry on Thursdays, I’m also going back to being at my keyboard by 10:00 am (I’m not a morning person!) and writing Every. Single. Day. Or, at least five days a week. I have so many fun projects coming and I tend to be guarded about them - especially when I don’t have contracts in hand! - but I honestly can’t wait to be able to talk about them more. So, I’m going to give a little glimpse of all that is coming!
First - starting in January - you will be able to catch me on the air with Authors on the Air! My podcast - Where They Started, with Alie Dumas-Heidt! Beginning with childhood, we’ll talk about which book first made them young readers, what inspired them to become a writer, and what inspired their most recent release! I’ve just started the latest release from Alex Kenna - BURN THIS NIGHT - and I’ve received some amazing ARCs for releases coming up next year. I will be sharing my reading list with my followers so you can read along! Who knows, a new book club feature might grow out of this, so stay tuned!
As for my own writing, there’s a lot going on there! Here’s a little glimpse of what I’m currently working on!
For those of you who have read THE MYTH MAKER, you know that Detective Cassidy Cantwell isn’t done yet. I’m working on her next moves in a work in progress currently saved as “Fly Away Home” but I don’t know if that title is going to stick. We’ll see if that’s still what it’s called when I send it over to my lovely agent, Liz! The next one is full of action and twists and the return of her supporting cast including FBI Agent Phoenix Rhys! There will be a future contest to name a new character in Cassidy’s world, so keep watch for that one!
Another thing that is going to my lovely agent, Liz soon is a completed novel in a completely different genre from THE MYTH MAKER. It’s a story focused on one family in a small fictional town in Nova Scotia. It’s a story of sisters, mothers and daughters, family secrets, addiction, and strength. I don’t think I’ve written anything that’s made ME cry as much as this story has. So far the beta feedback has been positive, and it’s going to be something I’m always proud of. Good vibes and fingers crossed that we can get this one out to readers sooner rather than later!
AND! Because working in the world of Cassidy Cantwell and The Keeping Sisters isn’t enough, I’m co-writing an upcoming cozy series with my dear friend that I consider my long lost twin, Charlie! Charles Lemoine has published multiple books, including his thriller PRESERVATION, that twists together ancient relics and murder! Our project is still in its infancy, but if you like your cozy mysteries a little bit sassy and more than a little bit fun, you’re going to love these! There will be a time that I have more to share on these and Charlie and I are determined to let you all get to know our new favorite crime solver - Ruby Decker!
